(As I have mentioned in my previous posts, it really doesn't matter much which study material you use.. Just decide any one thing wisely, and do it completely.. It's totally useless to compare two random books.. Just pick up any one thing, have faith in it and complete it..)
You simply don't start mathematics without algebra. It's everywhere. Math is actually made up of algebra.. You don't master algebra, you cannot excel in mathematics.. I don't need to tell you the importance of algebra.. You very well might be knowing it! Coming straight to the preparation tips-
Like always I said, don't try to move fast and ignore small things.. Remember, they are are the one deciding your caliber.. Spend time in polishing your algebra mathematics. Quadratic equations is what you'll start with and mind you, never take it lightly.. Whole mathematics portion contain it. It's easy but not very much. Algebraic operations with roots is an important thing. Understand it well and learn to apply it. Maximum questions will be on sum, product of roots, no matter how advance it becomes.
Progression- Again an extremely important topics.. First of all learn all sum and n'th term formulas, AGP operation formulas.. They are important.. Learn them all. Go for variety problems.. Application of progressions in real life, geometric shapes anything and everything.. Doing variety problems is the most effective way and DON'T forget to practice special series problems.. That's what will be asked in entrance exam.
Complex numbers is one of the hard core JEE topics. Devote time in it.. It'll be fine if you do the basics first and then move to argand plane (straight line, circle and all in complex).. Conjugate problems are important.. Learn identities and useful results.
Determinants and matrices are easy, you just need to remember stuff! In determinants, learn which operation is to be used where and learn some important results of standard determinants. You'll understand once you practice the problems.. Matrices is just memorizing stuff.. System of equations in determinants and matrices is pretty much asked in exams.. Do it well.
Permutation and combination is tricky and the real thing where you need to heavily apply your brains.. The ONLY thing you can do to master P&C is PRACTICE. You'll have to practice 100's of problems, every type from geometrical to real type, multinomial, dearrangement and everything.. Practice hard.. Don't get indulged in theory too much. Just do problems.
Similar is probability.. keep in mind what I wrote for P&C.. It'll be the same tip..
